'00 Breeders' Cup at Churchill Downs

Six members of KTTC and one parent each enjoyed all-expense paid trips to the Breeders' Cup at Churchill Downs including front-row seats for Saturday's Championship races.

Highlights of the day included post-race visits with Breeders' Cup Classic-winning jockey Chris McCarron, Kent Desormeaux, and Edgar Prado. The group also attended the post-race BC celebration in the Kentucky Derby Museum.

Friday the group spent the morning on the backside at Churchill Downs and met trainers D.Wayne Lukas, Bob Baffert, Beau Greely, Bruce Headley, Scotty Schulhofer, Ken McPeek and others, as well as former jockey Julie Krone, owners Cot Campbell, Laddie Dance, exercise rider Andy Durnin and others. They also met many of their equine favorites including Lemon Drop Kid, She's a Devil Due, Tranquility Lake and Tiznow etc.

In the afternoon, KTTC's group shipped to Lexington to visit Mill Ridge and Glennwood Farms. At Mill Ridge the group saw two fantastic stallions: Deisis and Gone West, up close and personal. They also visited with Keeper Hill, who was rather friendly. At Glennwood the group was presented personalized t-shirts, shown yearlings and given the chance to sit on a former racehorse.

We capped off an outstanding afternoon with dinner at John E's Steak House in Louisville.

In the end, it was another jam-packed, action-filled two days that never will be forgotten.

KTTC thanks everyone who contributed to make this a fantastic BC trip.
