KIDS TO THE CUP FOLLOWS TRIPLE CROWN ROAD!

© 2003 Brandon Benson

The top three winners of Kids to the Cup's fourth annual national essay contest: Elizabeth Clark, from FL; Meredith Leary, from MA; and Olivia Gross, from PA, won box seat tickets to the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby. Winners were joined by their parents for a backstretch tour and two exciting days at the races and were presented with gift bags compliments of Churchill Downs.

Funny Cide's stirring upset was set against the backdrop of tremendous weather for both days.

Also joining the group for the morning backstretch tour and visits to the barns of D. Wayne Lukas, Bob Baffert, Jeff Mullins and Ron Ellis, were members Amelia Baldree, Alison Baldree, Carly Silver, Ashley Gibson, Anna Sitzler, Allison Parise and Brandon Benson. Members were nice enough to also let their parents tag along.

After the Oaks the entire group of members and parents gathered at John E's Steakhouse for a delicious meal and some real good times. Amelia Baldree, first recipient of KTTC's Edwin Gregson Memorial Scholarship and a student at the University of Louisville, organized the dinner.
