Brian Hernandez, Jr. earned one as Leading Apprentice Jockey in 2004.
Brian comes from a racing family. His father Brian Hernandez is one of the leading riders on the Louisiana circuit and rides mostly at Evangeline and Delta Downs.
The younger Hernandez began his career galloping horses for trainer Dale Angelle and, according to his parents’ wishes, completed high school before beginning his career as a jockey.
Brian won his first race at Delta Downs in November of 2003. He has won a number of stakes races on horses like Rapid Proof, Gigawatt, Souris, Summerly, Storm Surge and Solid Platinum.
Today, Brian Hernandez, Jr. rides mostly on the Kentucky and Louisiana circuits.
