Chaste
is a 5-year-old filly by Cozzene and out of Purity. She is another
horse owned by Laddie Dance and Jeanne Vance. She won two starts
last year but fractured her hind leg. It was operated on and she
got back into training.
On Friday, February 09, 2001 she was entered in an allowance race,
the 7th, at Gulfstream Park. It was 1 1/16 miles on the Turf and
she was ridden by Edgar Prado. Coming from post position 1, she
came in 5th. Longshot T. N. T. Red won.
Despite
this race, Chaste won her next time out. She won a $46,000 allowance
race on the turf.

Chaste
ran in another race on 06-22-2001 at Belmont. Ridden by JJ Castellano
in the 8th race at Belmont she ran a decent third place finish
to Tiger Babe and Step With Style.

On
October 27, 2001 (recognize this date?) Chaste was entered against
some stiff competition in the 2001 Breeder's Cup Filly and Mare
Turf. Great Britain's Banks Hill won, with American Spook Express
coming in for second. Chaste finished 9th. Good news was I caught
Laddie Dance's attention as he was headed to the paddock and wished
him luck, he gave me some updates on his "babies" - three now-2-year-olds.
