Heritage
Of Gold moved one step closer to this week's Spinster Stakes
at Keenland when she worked five furlongs in :59. Stablemate
Whoozie opened up seven or eight lengths on Heritage Of Gold,
but the latter came running to catch her workmate and polish
off an excellent work.
"She worked
great," said trainer Tom Amoss, "and she came out of it good
and sharp. She'll school the next three days in the paddock
and we'll be ready to go." The schooling process, in which Heritage
Of Gold is taken to the paddock and walked around during the
races, is used to combat her one weakness her tendency
to get worked up before a race.
Amoss explained
that he likes to use a workmate for Heritage of Gold for one
or two works before a big race. "She doesn't do any more than
she has to," related Amoss, "in her works or races. That's probably
one of the reasons she's stayed so sound."

Having a
target to run at in her works, helps Heritage Of Gold get what
she needs out of her morning activity. There always are plenty
of targets in the afternoon, but when she passes them she sometimes
makes the lead and waits for them to catch up.
Here's
wishing plenty of KTTC good luck to Heritage Of Gold in the
Spinster Stakes.
