Meet Postponed

Postponed is a 4-year-old colt by Summer Squall and out of the mare Bridal Tea. He was foaled 4/16/97 in Kentucky. Of all the "Dancing" horses, besides Lemon Drop Kid, Postponed may be one to ring a bell. Why? Because he raced in the 2000 Travers Stakes. He raced against Curule, 2000 Belmont Stakes winner Commendable, Unshaded, Dixie Union, 1999 Belmont Stakes winner Impeachment and Albert the Great. Granted, he didn't win, he came in 7th and Carl Nafzger-trained Unshaded won.

For "recent" info on Postponed, on Friday, February 16, 2001 he ran four furlongs in 0:50.3 at Gulfstream Park. Other workouts are as follows:

February 12, 2001: 4f 0:49.1 Gulfstream

February 21, 2001: 4f 0:49.0 Gulfstream

On March 10th, 2001 he was entered in the 4th race at Gulfstream Park. It was an optional claiming race for Four Year Old and Upwards. It was 1 1/16 Miles on the Dirt. On a fast track on a cloudy day Postponed was "outrun early, swung out top stretch, 2nd best." Traditionally Won, a chestnut colt out of the champion mare Personal Ensign won.

I did not keep records on his workouts leading up to his next start in the 8th race at Aqueduct on Saturday, April 07, 2001. Postponed was entered in a stakes race with a price of $100,000, from post position 6 he was ridden by Aaron T. Gryder. Cat's At Home won this race and Postponed came in a game 4th. On Monday, April 16th he started working out for another upcoming race. At Belmont he ran 4f in 0:51.0. On Friday, April 27 Postponed ran in the 7th race at Aqueduct, an allowance race with a price of $48,000. Ridden by J. Bravo Postponed came in second in this 1 1/8 mile race on the dirt. Postponed had another workout, May 5th at Belmont, four furlongs in 0:49.4 on a fast track before another race. In the 7th race at Belmont on May 12th Postponed ran in a $48,000 1-mile allowance race, this time on the turf for a change. Postponed won this race for our "dancing owners." Postponed registered a few more workouts at Belmont before another start.
