'00 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs

Three winners of KTTC's Triple Crown Essay contest enjoyed an up-close look at eventual Derby winner Fusaichi Pegasus grazing outside the barn early Friday morning, and later watched as he romped home in the 126th running of the race.

Trainers Neil Drysdale, Bob Baffert and Jenine Sahadi spoke to the group. Hall of Fame jockey and KTTC board member Chris McCarron offered a personal glimpse into the emotions of the Run For The Roses from a rider's unique perspective. Owners Bob and Beverly Lewis also livened up the proceedings with a chat with the group.

Members also visited the paddock for the Kentucky Oaks as guests of KTTC president Trudy McCaffery.

KTTC thanks Churchill Downs for their support and assistance in making the inaugural Derby Road Trip a smashing success.
