The National Thoroughbred Racing Association today Friday that Thoroughbred owner and breeder Trudy McCaffery and Keeneland president and CEO Nick Nicholson have joined the board of directors of NTRA Charities. McCaffery joins the board as an independent director and Nicholson joins as a representative of the NTRA board.

McCaffery, recently named to the board of directors of Oak Tree Racing Association, also sits on the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Board and has raced such successful runners as Came Home, Free House, and Bien Bien with partner John Toffan. In 1999, she founded Kids to the Cup (KTTC) to attract, educate and develop racing fans ages 8-16.

Prior to joining Keeneland in February 2000, Nicholson was executive vice president and executive director of The Jockey Club. He also served as the first chief operating officer of the NTRA and is a member of the executive committee of the American Horse Council; past president of the Thoroughbred Club of America; and a director for the University of Kentucky's Equine Research Foundation.

In addition to commissioner Tim Smith, the NTRA Charities board of directors now includes John Amerman, Craig Fravel, Terry Meyocks, Nick Nicholson and John Roark as NTRA board representatives, and Gary Biszantz, Robert Clay, Trudy McCaffery, and Herb Moelis as independent directors.
