At various times throughout the year KTTC honors an outstanding member with the Member of the Month Award. This honor goes to a member of the organization who has performed distinguished work in the field of Thoroughbred racing. The honoree receives a commemorative plaque from KTTC and is archived on the KTTC web site as an example of racing's talented young fans.

KTTC Member of the Month April 2001

Jonathan Horowitz

Jonathan Horowitz played a huge role in making KTTC's trip to the Santa Anita Derby an event to remember when he announced the third race on Friday, April 6 at the Arcadia oval. The 16-year-old Irvine, CA resident is an avid race caller and has announced races at Lone Star Park, Turf Paradise and Los Alamitos. But, it was his dream to call one at the venerable oval, Santa Anita. Thanks to KTTC and management at Santa Anita, Horowitz got his chance as part of KTTC's weekend extravaganza.

Alongside renown racing commentator Trevor Denman, Horowitz made the most of his opportunity and delivered an outstanding race call that drew rave reviews from patrons and racing experts. There's no doubt that this young man will be heard from loudly, clearly and accurately at a track somewhere soon.

Kurt Hoover, of the Santa Anita television staff, interviewed Horowitz on the Fox Sports Network following the race and the youngster demonstrated a cool demeanor before a national television audience.

KTTC is proud to present Jonathan Horowitz as Member of the Month for April 2001.
