Merv
Huber is the "boy genius" of the handicapping
world. He earned the title by outscoring over 12,000 opponents
in Churchill Downs' Fantasy Stable competition. Contestants
were challenged in January to select a 3-year-old Fantasy Stable
comprised of horses, trainers and jockeys.
Unfortunately, Huber
is just 12 years old and therefore not eligible to win prizes.
Churchill Downs appropriately disqualified the young prognosticator
and redistributed the awards accordingly. However, the home
of the twin spires did console Merv with a pair of tickets to
the 2001 Kentucky Derby.
"I want to
donate the Derby tickets to Kids to the Cup," immediately
announced Merv, a Louisville native. "I had a great time
when I went to the Santa Anita Derby with KTTC and I want other
kids to do the same at the Kentucky Derby."
In recognition of
his handicapping prowess and his incredible generosity and thoughtfulness
KTTC honors Merv Huber as
Member of the Month.
