At various times throughout the year KTTC honors an outstanding member with the Member of the Month Award. This honor goes to a member of the organization who has performed distinguished work in the field of Thoroughbred racing. The honoree receives a commemorative plaque from KTTC and is archived on the KTTC web site as an example of racing's talented young fans.

KTTC Members of the Month November 2001

Susie Raisher
and Jess Paquette

KTTC is proud to honor members Susie Raisher and Jess Paquette as Members of the Month!

Susie and Jess produced "On the Track, 2001 Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championship Previews" a 20-page newsletter complete with color photos, articles, handicapping, poems, a contest and more. The dynamic duo drew rave reviews from racetrack executives, hardened reporters and veteran horseplayers for their production.

Additionally, the pair distributed copies of their work at Belmont Park in the days leading up to the Breeders' Cup and attended the races as part of an overflowing KTTC contingent.

Susie and Jess are KTTC veterans who collaborate via the Internet since they live in different states. Their friendship and teamwork are sterling examples of how technology, horseracing and Kids to the Cup work to bring race fans together.

Congratulations, members!

New Meanings

The Breeders' Cup has always been a challenge of the best against the best. The point has been to prove which horses were the best of the year. It has welcomed new stars and bid farewell to others. This year, however, there is a different point to be proven. Life goes on. Even after the horrific tragedy that rocked the nation on September 11th, we have been able to pick ourselves up and continue. Americans everywhere have shown their strength, integrity, and pride by not allowing the terrorists to succeed in robbing us of our freedom…

…The people who were taken from us will not be forgotten. We were sadly given a new day of infamy. I am proud of my country and proud to be an American. Having been fortunate enough to be too young to remember the Gulf War, this has been the first time I experienced a national event to this degree. Our country has come together better than I could have ever dreamed. Now, I fully understand the phrase "United we stand. Divided we fall."
