BREEDER'S CUP '05 ROAD TRIP IS A SUCCESS
Kids to the Cup completed their seventh consecutive Road Trip to the Breeders' Cup and it was a complete success.
Friday morning the group gathered on the apron at Belmont Park to watch morning workouts before heading to the backside. There the group met with three Hall of Fame trainers: D. Wayne Lukas, Bobby Frankel and Richard Mandella. The three conditioners spoke with group, answered questions, posed for photos and signed autographs. The group also met with Hall of Fame jockey Sandy Hawley and Jerry Bailey's agent Ron Anderson. Youthful trainer Gary Mandella also spoke with the group and shared some of his varied experiences in racing and as a television commentator.
Trainer Bill Mott graciously permitted the group to tour his barn where members were able to see several stars up close.
Following the morning activities, the group visited the historic Belmont paddock and shared the winner's circle with future Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher following a race named for Kid's to the Cup.
Of course, on Saturday, the group attended the Breeders' Cup and, despite the chilly weather, enjoyed all the action from seats located in mid-stretch.
When it was over everyone agreed that it was another successful Road Trip for Kids to the Cup.
