KTTC LOCAL ROAD TRIP INVADES TURFWAY PARK
Kids to
the Cup members and parents invaded Turfway Park for the '03
edition of the Kentucky Cup. KTTC member Anna Sitzler organized
the trip.
In the
morning, a group of members toured the Turfway Park backstretch
and frontside before enjoying an afternoon at the races.
Jim Claypool,
the local historian, pitched in to help with the tour and took
the group to the jock's room, video patrol room, and press box.
Claypool shared his vast knowledge of racing, old photos and
a vintage trophy with the group.
Turfway
Park generously provided lunch vouchers for the group and members
camped out near the paddock and along the rail, as usual, for
the afternoon's races.
KTTC's
inaugural trip to Turfway Park was declared a success right
from the start when the group met Kentucky Cup star Congaree.
